Private Residence, Speen, Buckinghamshire

This project certainly pushed the boundaries of what is possible, with two gable windows each over 4m tall and almost 5m wide and both with inward-opening doors in the centre. The client was keen to avoid having lots of small blinds, so we proposed a pair of very large top-down Duette blinds for each window. The size of the blinds meant that we had to use powerful mains-voltage motors and include additional diagonal support bars across the blinds to retain the fabric shape. This layout ensured there were fewer light gaps to give the best darkening possible, and also meant the solid timber window frames were unobstructed and did not need to be drilled into.
