Tamworth Assembly Rooms, Staffordshire

The restoration of the Grade II listed Tamworth Assembly Rooms encompassed the reinstatement of the previously painted-over arched windows lining the auditorium. BHB Architects approached us to find a solution to provide motorised blinds to allow the space to be darkened for performances without detracting from the overall appearance of the windows. We came up with a solution for 18 bespoke electric Duette pleated blinds, cut to the shape of the arch and concealed behind the new secondary glazing for the most discreet look and best darkening effect, whilst also enabling the room to be flooded with light during the day. The project forms a key part of Tamworth Borough Council’s regeneration plan to transform the town centre, and we were honoured to be involved in breathing new life back into this historic building.
