External Blinds
For the most efficient shading of a building, there is no match to external blinds, which stop the sun’s rays before they pass through the glass. A common solution across Europe, they are becoming increasingly popular in the UK due to the unsurpassed technical shading benefits. External blinds come in many forms, from tensioned roller blinds in specialist fabrics, to tilting louvre systems. Often having the shading on the outside of the building requires designing it into the fabric of the structure, but they can also be retrofitted. External blinds work well on skylights and shaped windows, with the added benefit of improved security and privacy. External shading can also form a key architectural feature, especially using tilting cedar louvres.
