Wondertree Restaurant, Gatwick Airport

Fusion Design & Architecture approached Grand Design Blinds to find a solution for the large windows overlooking the runway at The Restaurant Group's new Wondertree restaurant at Gatwick South Terminal. The design brief called for natural materials, shading, glare reduction, and also vision through the fabric, so we proposed Pinoleum blinds, operated with the SmartCord ratchet system to comply with Child Safety Regulations. The fabric is also inherently fire retardant, which was a requirement of the airport's directives.

Survey and installation airside at the airport was a complex process involving applications, interviews, and many security procedures, but Grand Design Blinds was happy to undertake all of this to successfully complete the project - even returning to undertake remedial work following some damage by members of the public.
