Community Hub, St Albans, Hertfordshire
MCR Studio Chartered Architects approached Grand Design Blinds to solve a problem their existing blinds supplier had been defeated by; the gable window they had designed at a new community hub for Camphill Village Trust - constructed by Neville Special Projects. Two motorised blackout Duette blinds were proposed, retracting neatly to the top of the window for a minimal look. The blinds were specified to comply with the requirement for safety for the vulnerable adults who would be using the building, with no cords or chains to present a ligature risk.
Pleated blinds were also supplied for an adjacent glazed door, to replace an inappropriately specified roller blind recently installed by their previous supplier which interfered with the door mechanism.
