Reading Blue Coat School, Sonning, Berkshire
We were introduced to this project by an interior designer we have worked with on a number of projects, as the school were struggling to find a solution to prevent the Bursary office from becoming too hot in summer and to reduce the glare to allow the computer screens to be viewable. The stunning gothic arched windows and vaulted ceiling of the Victorian building certainly did not allow for a standard blinds solution, so we had to come up with a simple and effective proposal which did not interfere with the architecture. Bottom-up sprung roller blinds proved to be just the right product, and we templated the windows to allow the fabric to be cut to the correct shape. With the inclusion of stiffening battens to hold the fabric as flat as possible, and a simple manual cord and pulley system, the blinds do the job perfectly.
